Domestic Wind Turbines 

Wind turbines harness the power of the wind and use it to generate electricity. When the wind blows, the blades are forced round, driving a turbine that generates electricity. The stronger the wind, the more electricity produced.

There are two types of domestic-sized wind turbine:

• Pole mounted – these are free standing and are erected in a suitably exposed position, with generation capacity around 6kW.

• Building mounted – these are smaller than mast mounted systems and can be installed on the roof of a home where there is a suitable wind resource. Often these are around 2kW in size.

Air Source Heat Pumps 

An air source heat pump, sometimes referred to as an air-to-water source heat pump, transfers heat from the outside air to water, which heats your rooms via radiators or underfloor heating. It can also heat water stored in a hot water cylinder for your hot taps, showers and baths.

Heat from the air is absorbed into a fluid. This fluid then passes through a heat exchanger into the heat pump, which raises the temperature and then transfers that heat to water. 

Air source heat pumps are suitable for many types of homes and are the most common type of domestic heat pump, with tens of thousands of installations across the UK.

EV Chargers 

A personal charger for your home can make it easier, faster and safer to charge your electric vehicle. It means no more extension leads or concerns about plugging in elsewhere; or having enough power at home.

A specialist from Unite Renewables will advise you on the type of charger and its positioning, before installing a dedicated electrical circuit – as well as consulting you on any additional sockets you might need installed too.
